Practitioner-Led
Every feature in SARO reflects a real challenge encountered in project delivery. Nothing is added for show — everything serves a clear purpose.
SARO is built on the belief that great project management is both a discipline and a practice — and that the right tools, combined with expert guidance, make a measurable difference in how teams deliver.
Brian Mayanja is the founder of SARO — an agile project management platform built to help organisations, teams, and professionals improve project delivery, collaboration, and performance. His approach to building SARO stems directly from years of practical experience coordinating complex, multi-stakeholder projects in demanding environments.
Brian holds training in agile project management from two of the world's most respected institutions: Google and the Project Management Institute (PMI). This dual grounding — in both contemporary practice and established methodology — shapes every design decision in the SARO platform and informs every engagement with clients.
"Agile is not a process you follow — it is a discipline you practise. The gap between theory and delivery is where most projects fail, and it is exactly that gap that SARO is designed to close."
Before founding SARO, Brian worked with the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) — one of the world's largest international research partnerships — where he supported the coordination of globally diverse teams working across continents on scientific and development interventions.
Managing work across different time zones, cultural contexts, institutional mandates, and funding requirements gave Brian a deep understanding of what it takes to keep distributed teams aligned, stakeholders informed, and projects on track when the stakes are high and the environment is complex.
Brian brings together a background in software development, project coordination, and agile management to create practical tools that reflect how real project delivery actually works. SARO is not a theoretical exercise — it is a platform shaped by the realities of managing multi-disciplinary teams, navigating competing priorities, and maintaining delivery velocity in the face of uncertainty.
The result is a platform designed to help teams plan better, communicate clearly, adapt quickly, and deliver measurable results — whether they are a five-person startup or a 200-person programme team.
Most project management tools are built by engineers, not practitioners. SARO is different — it is designed by someone who has managed real projects, under real constraints, with real consequences.
Every feature in SARO reflects a real challenge encountered in project delivery. Nothing is added for show — everything serves a clear purpose.
Built with distributed, international teams in mind. Time zones, cultural differences, and asynchronous communication are design considerations, not afterthoughts.
SARO aligns with PMI frameworks, the Agile Manifesto, and the Scrum Guide. It supports good practice without forcing rigid process on teams that need flexibility.
